Introduction to Dark Dreams at Mt. Hell
My current goal is to become a writer. What I currently cannot do at a professional level is write. I wanted to write my first novel recently, but I honestly don’t think that I’m ready – obviously, it takes practice to get good, so it’s not like I shouldn’t write *something*, but the story I was working on is one I really don’t want to fuck up, and didn’t feel I could do justice with my current level of skill.
Therefor, I’ve created Dark Dreams at Mt. Hell, a side-story of sorts to my novel-in-progress (in that it stars the two main characters years down the line). Here, I’ll just be writing a ton of short stories about this place called Mt. Hell and the residents therein so that I can practice things like storytelling, characterization, etc. I’ve got a bunch of fun characters I’m itching to introduce, so I hope that you’ll enjoy my story. Prologue – The Watching
Fourteen years ago, on the floor of a film studio in the depths of a black city, two little girls were commanded to kill one-another. However, even though their minds and bodies were broken, the girls had faith in one-another to survive and pull through. The younger girl, Scarlet Dream, was killed that night. The older girl, Dark Holy, had the divine luck to go on living, even after losing her right eye and left arm.
But these girls still had work to do. Dark Holy became a member of the city’s second-largest gang, and was it’s leader by age twelve. Scarlet Dream was taken on high by The Watching, a god-like entity who took personal interest in the fates of the girls, and was restored to life, now possessing powers beyond human comprehension. The girls were re-united as the city was thrown into chaos, and together, they became the city’s rulers.
After many adventures with many people in the span of their time in the city, Dark and Scarlet left it behind and decided to travel the world. For six years, they journeyed across the globe, and then soon after Scarlet’s eighteenth birthday, they finally got tired of adventuring and decided to settle down and build a house.
But of course, these girls wouldn’t be themselves if they settled down quietly. The couple built their little dream home in the middle of the mountains, out in the woods where they’d never be found; but these were no ordinary woods on no ordinary mountains – they built their house in the Hell Mountains, and at the foot of Mt. Hell itself, no less! Home to spirits, demons, and gods, the Hell Mountains are a mysterious and dangerous realm where humans dare not travel – unless those humans are Dark Holy and Scarlet Dream!
Our story begins at the end of the girls’ first week in the mountains, just as they’re putting the finishing touches on their new home…
